For People of Colour (Racially Marginalised Majorities)
Addressing the Profound and Lasting Impact of Daily, Ongoing Racism
This work is not about survival and resilience, though those are important aspects.
If you are reading this, it means you already possess these skills. (We might pick up some additional tips along the way on how to enhance them.)
Our focus here is on a crucial, often overlooked aspect: creating a safe-enough space to truly address the profound and lasting impact of daily, ongoing racism, spanning generations and crossing borders. If this resonates with you, then you are in the right place.
Our daily lives often necessitate a level of armour, a caution towards unfamiliar spaces and people. Many times, this reflex is so deeply ingrained that we might not even notice it.
This vigilance is not just limited to combating Racism, but our intersectional identities extend to other forms of oppression as well.
Intersectionality also means we all have aspects of privilege. They may be hard to identify at times. This knowledge is an essential part of my work and how we, together, release some of the impact of oppression from ourselves and our communities.
My anti-racist somatic practice with people of colour creates a safe-enough space for:
Releasing some of the emotional burden of race trauma and our daily existence within a racist society
Using polyvagal-informed practice to move into nervous system tolerance and safety, and allow deep restorative rest
Regaining a sense of our individual and collective power and agency
Re-emerging into the world more nourished and with a sense of support and connection
Practical support from the collective to cope with and address pressing issues and take next steps

My work always begins with a free conversation to see if we are a good match.
Often, the best work starts when you know something is needed but you're not quite sure what.
